Severe winter storm hits U.S. - At least 12 dead

Severe weather hits Alabama, Iowa, Louisiana and Texas since Friday 10/1/2020, claiming at least 12 lives. Ice storm warnings were in place for parts of northern USA as the storms started from Texas and Oklahoma and spread east into Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia.
Five tornados have been confirmed in the central Alabama where three people died while seven others were seriously injured.

Severe winds of at least 129 km/h were locked in Texas and Mississippi, where a man was killed when a tree fell on his home in East Texas. Another man killed when his car landed upside down in a creek in Dallas. A police officer and a paramedic in Northwest Texas died in a car crash while working to clear an earlier traffic accident on Interstate 27. Two elderly people died in Louisiana after theri mobile home collapsed. Three deaths and seven injuries were on Settlement Road near Carrollton. A man drowned in floodwaters near Kiowa while he was trying to leave his truck that was stalled.

Three people died in a tornado in Carrollton Alabama, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham.
One person was killed in Cedar County in Iowa when a vehicle flipped over on its side due to icy road conditions. Another person was killed in Kiowa, Oklahoma after being swept away by floodwaters.
